About Lydia
With over 22 years of dedicated yoga practice, I’ve grown to love the slow, deliberate nature of yoga. Early on, I focused exclusively on the physical benefits: building strength, increasing flexibility, and tackling challenging postures. I made the mistake of pushing myself to achieve the “perfect pose” as quickly as possible, but that approach only led to injuries and setbacks.
Over time, I learned that yoga isn’t about rushing—it’s about aligning body and mind and growing at your own pace. This realization shaped my practice on and off the mat, as yoga became a true foundation for my physical and mental wellness.
Yoga’s impact on my life has extended far beyond flexibility and strength. It gave me the resilience to train for and run marathons with focus and calm, allowing me to avoid the injuries I experienced before yoga. Today, while I’ve retired from running, I still experience yoga’s benefits as a regular tennis player. At 53, I have the strength, agility, and focus to stay injury-free on the court.
Yoga has been a lifeline in my demanding career as well. As a hairstylist on Madison Avenue in New York City, it kept me grounded, energized, and fully present for my clients, even through long days on my feet. Now retired from hairstyling, I credit my yoga practice for my success as a teacher, and I’m passionate about sharing its transformative effects with my students.
I’m confident that yoga can help you build strength, confidence, and resilience, empowering you to stay calm and focused in any situation, both on and off the mat.
Teaching style and philosophy
In my classes, yoga is a holistic practice that blends slow-flow sequences, restorative postures, meditation, and breathwork. This well-rounded approach enhances flexibility, strength, and overall wellness, while reducing stress and anxiety. My aim is to support each student’s unique goals—whether it’s improving mobility, boosting athletic performance, or staying fit and active for life.
For athletes, yoga can be transformative. I’ve worked with tennis players to increase joint mobility and agility, helping them move freely without injury. This is just one example of how yoga can be tailored to enhance performance and prevent injuries.
Whether in person or virtual, each session is focused on you and your goals. Virtual yoga offers the same personalized attention, letting you practice from anywhere in the world. I look forward to being part of your journey.
